  • The Assistance League of Southeastern Michigan announces the re-opening of its popular ReSale Connection store (204 S. Main, downtown Rochester). Initially, the store will be open two days per week - Tuesdays and Thursdays, noon to 4 p.m. Appointments are NOT necessary. Enter through the back door. Face masks are required.   • Art from the 35th Annual OUR TOWN Art Show & Sale is still available to purchase online at https://www.artworkarchive.com/profile/ourtown2020. The artists donate 35 percent of the sale price to The Community House Foundation.

  • The Community Housing Network and the Furniture Bank of Southeastern Michigan are hosting a family-friendly Drive-In Movie Fundraiser featuring: Jumanji- Welcome to the Jungle (Rated PG-13), Thursday, October 8 at Freedom Hill County Park (14900 Metro Parkway, Sterling Heights, MI 48312).   • Christ Child Society’s First Annual Men's and Ladies Golf Outing is 11 am, Monday, October 12 at Indianwood Country Club - New Course. Plans include a shot gun start and best ball play, 18 holes, lunch and a raffle with golf prizes - rounds at Crystal Downs, Oakland Hills, Orchard Lake and Indianwood plus a Pontoon Tiki Boat Experience on Pine Lake.   • Belle Isle Conservancy President / CEO Michele Hodge and M1 Rail’s Sommer Woods are co-hosting the 16th Annual Polish the Jewel Belle Isle Legacy Luncheon 12 - 1:30 pm, Thursday, October 15. The virtual event will feature keynote speaker Dr. Beth Peter, advocate for Park Rx. Attendees will receive a picnic basket of goodies to accompany the at-home experience and to use for future visits to Belle Isle. Plans include a thoughtful discussion of Belle Isle’s role in the community, of the important and various meanings that the park holds to its visitors, and the importance of an equitable park user experience. Additionally, the program will include a host of special guests including 2019 event chairs Gina Coleman and Evette Griffie, and Amy Peterson (Rebel Nell), Gena Conti (Gena Conti Millinery), and more, sharing their connections to the island and advocating for support of the Conservancy’s mission.   • The Tenth Annual Wine & Dine in the D that was scheduled for Thursday, October 29 at the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel, has been postponed to 2021. Instead, a virtual panel discussion led by some of the most prominent medical experts in multiple myeloma from around the country will begin at 5:30. It is designed to educate and inform patients and caregivers about the many new treatment options available to patients today.   • Guest House - a residential treatment center for Catholic clergy, women & men religious, and seminarians suffering from alcoholism, addictions and other behavioral health conditions - will host the 62nd Annual Detroit Bishop's Dinner Thursday, October 15. This virtual event will be live-streamed on Facebook and the Guest House website beginning with Mass at 5:30 which will be celebrated by keynote speaker, Detroit's own Joseph Cardinal Tobin, Archbishop of Newark, NJ.
